(More customer reviews)16 inches is really not that big. My small female sleeps in it from time to time but she looks scrunched and I believe she prefers the couch. I have a tom cat and there's no way he could fit into this bed. If this is a standard size I will have to get him a dog bed. Also the picture makes it look like the sides are kind of tall and sturdy. They aren't, and when the cat lays in it the sides flatten out. I think overall I was disappointed in it but as long as the cat likes it, that's all that really matters. I'm not the one sleeping in it. The cover is soft and it's nice that it's washable.

(More customer reviews)I have a small, older cat who is always cold. I had been running an electric heater for her, but looked into buying a heated bed. This bed was economical and very similar to her old bed, so I gave it a try.
The bed doesn't really heat up until the cat is laying in it. However, you can place a throw pillow or something in the bed first to heat it up if you need to entice the cat to use it.
The bed does heat up nicely when the cat is in it. My cat loves it. I also appreciate the washable cover. A good purchase.

Mysterious Kuddle Kup Cat Bed, White Review

(More customer reviews)My cats, going back several years, and any cats I'm familiar with, all love the "Mysterious Purr Pad" Mysterious Purr Padd - Charcoal. It comes in white or grey, and I buy grey since it doesn't show dirt as quickly (can't wash them). There is something...er...mysterious...about WHY the cats really do prefer this rather rough, harsh feeling material (closest comparison is an old brillo sponge, or dry wall insulation...)to the nice soft plush cat beds and pads made for them. But they really do. I've run into only one cat owner who said her cat wouldn't touch the one she bought for her.
However, I'm a bit disappointed in the "Kuddle Kup"...Its just SO SMALL...my cats just aren't huge either. My boy cat is an adolescent, still growing, and long and skinny. The girl cat is grown, just over a year, and we're having to watch her weight (difficult with the growing teenage boy cat in the house!) They will each sort of force themselves into the Kuddle Kup, but only for brief periods of time. Once, wish I'd had my camera out, they both managed to get in together...

This is the section I'm updating...we've noticed, over time, with both cats (who are now both bigger) managing to squeeze into ONE Kuddle Kup (though we have several scattered around the house, as well as the flat pads) the Kuddle Kup has stretched out to accomidate them both. Its a tight squeeze, but if you're familiar with cats you know they LOVE to be in tight places, the darker and more hidden and more cramped the better!
One cat alone can curl up in the Kuddle Kup and be down so low he or she cannot be seen from the sides, only if you look down into it...which I'm sure they like. With two in the Kup, more crowded, you can tell there are cats or a cat there. So, it does gradually, over time and with use, expand or stretch...I do still wish the company made more than one size though!

I have by the way, Mysterious Purr Pads almost everywhere. I have them cut in half and in such various places as the cat carriers, the little condo cubicles on their cat condo, one full size one on each of two beds in the house where they spend a lot of time...almost everywhere they like to lie down and rest. And they use them, in preference to other softer, "prettier" materials....please, Mysterious Pad/ Kuddle Kup people, give a choice of sizes for this item!

(More customer reviews)The bed arrived in the time promised, but the diameter is much, much smaller than what it claims to be. Even a kitten would not be comfort able. Between different family members, we have 6 cats and none of them would have anything to do with it, no matter what we tried. I think the picture show somewhat misrepresents the item (at least there should be a side view of the item and how the cat looks laying in the bed. The bed is a little flimsy, the bottom should be more padded and the sides should be able to roll down a little better. The bed looks just like a fabric version of the cat's water bowl. Maybe it would be better if it truly were 17" diameter, made of different fabric and have more padding in the bottom it would be better. The fabric looks and feels like building insulation.

(More customer reviews)We purchased one of these beds about 12 years ago for an elderly outdoor cat's dog house home. He used it for five years before passing away at age 17. It then came indoors to be used by our other rescue cats. It still warms up quite nicely and looks beautiful after many, many washings. I'm buying another bed so that the cat who is using the first bed won't have to continue to endure the sad eyes of the cat who is waiting his turn.

(More customer reviews)We've been turning down the thermostat in the house more during the day, and the 'rulers of the kingdom' (i.e. cats) were displeased.
Before they started an animal riot and demanded better living conditions, we purchased a Thermo-Bed.
We'd used heating pads in the past, but leaving them plugged in and turned on all the time was a safety concern and also made a big dent in the electric bill.
The Thermo-Bed stays at a very low temperature until the animal lays on it, then increases the warmth. In theory this keeps the electric bills from skyrocketing.
I'm sure this works for some situations, but doesn't take into account the extreme laziness and heat-seaking capabilities of our two furry friends.
Darned if they're not laying on the thing 24-7!
The only time they're not on it is when we're feeding them.
In summation, the cats give the Thermo-Bed a resounding 5 star perfect rating. The humans give it 3 stars because our heating bill has increased about $5 a month after installation. The result is a 4 star rating.
If the cats had opposable thumbs, and could have surfed to Amazon.com themselves, they would have given it 5 stars. Cats don't care about electricity bills.

K&H Thermo-Kitty Mat Review

(More customer reviews)My cat is a "sauna cat." In the middle of summer, she would sleep on the overheating stereo receiver, or block the X360's exhaust vents. This winter, these are no longer available, and she's constantly pestering me for a lap. Which is nice, and makes me feel loved, but I know what she really wants. So I ordered this mat.
As soon as the mat arrived, I plugged it in, confirmed that it making heat, and set the cat on it. The cat did not move for two days. She barely gets up to eat. I'm sleeping alone, and my lap is always empty. Unconditional love? Hah!
It does not appear to generate heat until you press the foam cushioning. If you're a cat, you can accomplish this easily by walking or lying on it. :) I believe it acts as an insulator otherwise. This should reduce waste heat when the cat is not on it, but some cats may not be impressed, what with their short attention spans and all. Once you're pressing on it, it generates what I would describe as the "perfect level" of warmth. (My cat would probably want it scalding hot, but I couldn't stand the smell of burning hair, so it's for the best.)
The heater insert is less than 6" wide, so it does not get warm all the way across its 12.5" width. It does get warm from end to end down the middle. The product would be improved if the entire pad got warm. I could probably fit two warming strips side by side and heat the entire surface of the pad... is fire safety an issue here?
Heater insert width notwithstanding, my cat says I should give it 5 stars, so I have.
