(More customer reviews)I purchased this product along with another, thicker round silicone liner. I was worried that this one was so thin that it would curl or otherwise distort while in a convection/microwave oven. When I unpacked this one, I was even more worried (they are very thin). Well, I think the thinness of the sheet actually allows it to "cling" to the convection pan and microwave turntable which I use it on. I have ended up using this more than the thicker one I bought. It just does the job it was intended for.

(More customer reviews)I bought this as a liner for my soap molds, and the seller was kind enough to cut it in 4 strips for me. It helps the soap come right out, without sticking or problems. One thing to note if you trim it, use a very sharp cutting instrument, as the fiberglass fibers can fray after some usage, but can be trimmed up with some scissors. For those using this for baking purposes as a no stick, it should serve the purpose well.

(More customer reviews)If you are considering buying a silpat, look carefully at the sizes. The really large 24" will not fit in a home oven. I love this size because it fits in my home oven and Commercial size baking pans. I can make twice the cookies or other items on this one. I was glad to spend a few more dollars to get the larger size. The mall size 8 x 11 is good for toaster ovens. MY kids love grilled cheese on the silpat, and I do not have to turn it. Here is a recipe for parmesan cheese salad baskets.
You can really impress your friends with this one! To make the Parmesan basket, sprinkle shredded Parmesan cheese onto the Silpat forming 5-inch circles. Sprinkle Parmesan circles with crushed pecans. Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Remove from the oven when they turn a golden color particularly around the edges. Allow to cool for about one minute. Keep a close eye on them. If you wait too long they will break and not be soft enough to mold. Flip over your muffin tray and lay the Parmesan circles on the cups to form a basket. Press to form scalloped edges. Let cool and then turn over and you now have a Parmesan basket. For the salad I mixed ripe tomatoes cut into small chucks, mozzarella pieces, and parsley. I drizzled this with olive oil and then salt & pepper to taste. Invite some friends over and enjoy some tomatoes and parsley from the garden!

(More customer reviews)I bought the half sheet size at a warehouse club, it fits in my baking sheet perfectly and works great for baking cookies. The bottoms of my cookies are light golden brown when done, and when cool, the cookies easily twist off without a spatula. I also have a Silpat, and the MIU France Baking Liner performs identically, but I think it is better looking than the orange Silpat. For the price, it is an excellent value. I would happily buy another one if I baked more cookies.

It's good quality, not thin and flimsy, and comes just far enough beyond the edge of my glass turnplate to keep little splatters from getting into the recessed edge. Clean up is a breeze; no more soaking or scraping egg, cheese, etc. off the glass plate. Of course, it works beautifully on my pizza pan (slide the pizza off, don't cut it on the mat!), and is great for baking cookies and bread. My round loaf was as beautiful on the bottom as the top.

If you make a lot of breads or pies, you might need a larger size, there is also a 16 x 24 and a 23 x 23 square. For residential use, I like thsi size!

(More customer reviews)My first experience with a silicone mat was nothing short of a revelation, so I went on a mission to see if the several brands available offered anything the others lacked. In my opinion, this one performs as well as the others that I have used (which is to say it's fantastic). I use them for pastry, cookies, and any other baking that normally threatens me with over baked bottom sides, and breakage due to sticking. I have not used them for candy, but sugar that has fallen from cookies, and carmalized on it's surface doesn't stick in the least. This is a great product.
For roasts, I use a roasting pan. I like to make my own gravy, and I don't see how a silicone liner would help the process.
For pizza, I use an air core pizza pan that is riddled with holes to ensure a crisp crust by allowing moisture to escape rather than turning the bottom of the pie into mush. The same holds true for reheating a pizza. To put a silicone pad between a pizza and the heat source is inviting pizza disaster.
I suspect the bad review was due to a combination of operator error and misunderstanding of cooking concepts, rather than a defective product.

Since receiving this mat, I have begun using a cover specifically meant for all food cooked in the micro to help further keep it clean & keep the micro operating properly. The mat & using the cover (which I'd much rather wash both items rather than the inside of the micro) keeps it simple for us. You'll never catch me using my micro without the mat, that's for sure. Just one thing to say : if you have flour left on it, make sure clean it before lifting or moving the mat, because it is a mat not a board, it is soft, it might tile, so you might end up spread flour all over the counter top or floor. (More customer reviews)I bought this to place under any type of food that would normally stick to a baking sheet/pan, so as to avoid adding extra grease/oil to what's being cooked on a sheet/pan. This mat works fabulously for that purpose.
My only complaint is that the one I received does not have the measuring marks on the black border of the mat. On the product's box it says "Border includes a convenient measuring guide," and you can see this on Amazon's pictures of the mat too. But mine didn't have it - the border on my mat is completely black. Either false advertising or bad quality control (for a non-essential feature) takes away 1 star from my rating.
