Cons: Smelly. It took about 2 months for the chemically smell to go away. It's supposed to be non-toxic but, still, I feel like if the smell bothers me, I'm not comfortable leaving it in the babies' room.

(More customer reviews)We used this in a large play pen for our twins to pad against the hardwood floor at grandpa's house. We also like the map on it. Even we are learning our geography. That said, the puzzle aspect is not the greatest for toddlers if you are using it as a pad. Once they realize it comes apart, they only want to tear all the pieces off. So much for the padding! But it will be great when they get a little older

If preschool teachers want to get their kids off to a head start for future history lessons, this is a great item to help. Kids can gather together on the mat and discuss what items come from different countries, where discoveries were made, it's exciting to write about it because the possibilities are endless. Same goes for home use as we all know how kids love to ask questions. So if your child asks were the family car was made, you can point to the U.S., Japan, Germany etc.For more educational fun, the bottom of the foam map has a lot of the flags of the world and sides have longitude and latitude numbers for the older kids. (More customer reviews)I actually bought this in Europe and brought it back and my daughter loves it! Its a play mat and assembles into a rocking chair. It's sturdy enough for me and I don't have to worry about my daughter falling and hurting herself in the wooden rocker. These mats are twice thicker than the regular puzzle mats. My daughter used to rip and peel the thinner puzzle mats but the tessell mats are so thick that she can't even rip it. It does seem educational since it took us approximately 30 minutes trying to figure out the puzzle. I'm a huge fan of the tessellation (I'm a math major) and its proven that any kind of tessellation enhances learning skills.

Rectangular Street Rug Review

I would recommend to buy My Travel Town by Early Years as the cars in it are the perfect size for the rug "streets and parking space".

If you don't buy this item and decide to buy something else, just make sure it's not made in China. There is a big difference between Chinese and Taiwanese EVA foam! FYI.

(More customer reviews)Padding is sufficient for my busy 9 month old. I am unhappy with the fact that a few of the letters and numbers are the same color back to back. In order to avoid two of the same color being next to each other I have had to set it up in a 4x9 pattern instead of the 6x6 that is shown in the picture. Problem with that is that they did not provide enough border pieces to set it up in any way other than 6x6. So, I have it set up with alternating colors, but I am missing two edge pieces.

Step2 24" Playmats (set of 4) Review

(More customer reviews)New wood floors and two little babes... Yikes! What to do?
We bought 2 sets of these blue mats originally (sort of pricey, we thought) and ended up buying 2 more sets because we feel they are definitely worth it. Our kids (3 and 1 years old) can roughhouse and learn to somersault without getting tearful.
Rugs are an option we have used in other parts of the house, but they do not seem to provide as much cushion, and they do not clean up as easily when they are spilled on. So far, a wet washcloth has worked fine on any food residue.
One final note: Trucks roll gracefully and lego's and such have no problem standing up on the mats.
