This lower cost floor mat is adequate for standing by the sink to wash dishes or cook in front of the stove. It is comfortable and easy to clean. I would have preferred a lighter 'oak' color.

GelPro Mat Basketweave Review

I picked up one of these at a local retailer. It comes rolled around a heavy cardboard tube that should be saved for shipping and transportation later. After unrolling the mat and placing it on the floor, the edges were a bit wrinkly at first but smoothed out after a few days of use. The mat is basically a ~1cm thick layer of squishy gel encased between two surfaces of rubber or some synthetic material. The top surface is soft and smooth material shaped into a basketweave pattern. The bottom surface is shaped roughly to help grip the floor.
I purchased one of these to see if it would reduce the pain in my feet from standing for about 6-8 hours a day behind my desk. It has helped noticeably. The bottoms of my feet used to hurt after about 4 hours, which doesn't happen anymore. I can stand the entire duration without that pain.
The mat is on top of thin carpet, so in this case it doesn't really have anything to grip onto. It moves slightly over the hours, but not enough to be annoying. I'd say that it moves about 1-2 inches over 6-8 hours of normal standing. By normal I mean standing on it in place for most of the time, only shifting about to relieve muscle/joint tension, walking on and off of it occasionally, but not walking on and off of it constantly. I think that the more one moves on it, the more it will move about.
The mat feels good to stand on in bare feet. But to give another layer of cushioning, I recommend wearing some sort of comfortable shoes. Slippers or slip-ons that have cushioning would do.
