AccuQuilt Go Fabric Cutter / B0021F62D6
I love quilting, but I'm having a harder and harder time making quilts due to some persistent back pain from my scoliosis. The fabric cutting portion of any quilt project is where I really struggle - all that bending over, measuring, and pressing and moving the rotary cutter just causes me all kinds of problems. The light came on when I noticed my friend (who works with paper crafts) using a die cutter to create paper shapes and I had to wonder if something like that existed to cut shapes for quilts.
A lot of research later, I decided on an AccuQuilt Go! fabric cutter. The pros of the AccuQuilt is that it seems to be the most affordable fabric cutter out there, and the machine is small and portable for home hobbyists. The cons are that a new die has to be bought for each shape and dimension that you might want to use - it's not like a paper cutter where you can adjust down from 3.5" to 2.5" on a whim. However, since I almost exclusively use 3.5" squares in my quilting, this wasn't a drawback for me - I bought the 3.5" die to go along with the fabric cutter and anything else I need I will continue to hand-cut for as long as I can.
This machine is so easy to use. The quilt I'm working right now needs 60 squares of pink. The die I bought cuts two 3.5" squares per layer of fabric, and I can fit 8 layers of fabric in a single run through the machine. That's four runs through the machine for 64 squares - and I accomplished all that, straight out of the box, without reading the user manual, in less than 30 minutes. That level of work would have taken me at least 3-4 hours by rotary cutter, and my back would be aching afterwards.
The two biggest complaints that I've seen for the AccuQuilt is that (a) the rotary mats have to be replaced periodically, and (b) there's some serious fabric waste to consider. For the first issue, the mats, I don't foresee a problem. The mats are much thicker than the rotary mats I've bought in the past, so they should last comparably long, and the mats are pretty cheap on the AccuQuilt site, especially compared to mat prices at my local fabric store. I have to cop to the second point, though - the die could be laid out a lot more efficiently to prevent wastage and I'm surprised it's not. AccuQuilt does make and sell strip cut die, which will cut two clean 3.5" strips side-by-side (as opposed to two squares) and that looks a lot more efficient in terms of fabric use, but then of course you still have to whip out the rotary blade to cut the squares out of the strips. I'm going to try it and see how it goes, anyway.
I recommend the AccuQuilt fabric cutter system if (a) you use the same basic shapes frequently, and (b) you like to collect fabric scraps for scrap quilts. I'm so glad I bought one and only wish I'd found it years ago.

AccuQuilt Go Die 6.5" Square / B0021FACXM
I bought this die for use with my new AccuQuilt GO! Fabric Cutter. I'm impressed with quick and easily it cuts fabrics, as well as with the accuracy of the cuts. This die cuts fabric squares that are 6.5" inches on each side; if you quilt with 1/4" inch seams, then that means the finished square is 6" inches on each side. Almost all of my quilting is done with combinations of 3.5" and 6.5" squares, so this die has been a great investment for me.
The die cuts one square per cut - if you layer the fabric with eight layers (the maximum thickness the AccuQuilt claims to be able to accommodate), that gives you 8 squares per cut. It takes about five minutes to layer the fabric and run it through the machine, so you can cut about 100 squares in an hour time.
The only complaint I have with this die is that it is a bit wasteful of fabric - I do wish they had made it with less "empty" space on the sides, to allow for tighter cutting, but I suppose if you got creative with your fabric folding it wouldn't be as much of an issue. For myself, I never seem to have enough scraps for scrap quilts, so I'm just being "wasteful" and saving the scraps in my barren scrap basket.
Do note that you will need the GO! 10x10 Cutting Mat to use with this die, as well as the actual AccuQuilt Go fabric cutting machine. I've attached the video I created for my AccuQuilt review to show this die in action.

AccuQuilt GO Baby Cutting Mat; 6-inch-by-24-inch Review

After purchasing a AccuQuilt GO! Baby Fabric Cutting Dies; 2-1/2 inch Strip On 6-inch-by-24-inch Die for my AccuQuilt GO! Fabric Cutter with Value Die Set I added this 6" x 24" cutting mat to my collection of Accuquilt dies and mats. In restrospect, I should have purchased the 10" x 24" mat which would be more useful when I purchase larger strip dies, but I certainly can't fault the product for a decision I made. Accuquilt Customer Service recommended this specific product for my strip cutter, so, of course I puchased it from Amazon. Amazon's prices are better and most items qualify for Amazon Prime free shipping.
There isn't much to say other than it works as it should. A mat is required with all the Accuquilt Go and Go Baby dies. Using this with the strip cutter I get perfectly cut fabric strips every time for my quilting projects.
The Accuquilt cutting system is to quilting like a modern jet aircraft is to the Wright Brother's plane at Kitty Hawk. It not only saves time, it is more accurate, and, for arthritis sufferers, is easier on the hands and wrists.

AccuQuilt Go Mat 10x10 / B002768VGK
I bought this die for use with my new AccuQuilt GO! Fabric Cutter. This 5x10 mat works with several of the dies, including the AccuQuilt Go! 6.5" Square die. I'm pleased with the thickness and strength of the mat, and it doesn't shift when running through the machine. I do think it will need to be replaced eventually, but that's true for every cutting mat in the world, and this one is a fair sight cheaper than most.
It's a bit tricky to tell from the descriptions on Amazon which die needs which mat, so if you're confused, I recommend checking the AccuQuilt site for more details. I've attached the video I created for my AccuQuilt review to show this mat in action.
