There is a paint-like odor that disappears after the 8 hour curing period. Once applied, it creates total traction in your tub. The texture is like rough sandpaper. We used it in our guest bath (for a family with two children), and they loved how the surface was completely non slip even with spilled shampoo and conditioner. There is one thing that some people might not like if they are hyper-concerned about aesthetics-- although the product does dry completely clear, it is not a completely invisible coating. The surface of your tub will not be shiny and smooth-looking-- it will have a textured surface-- something like translucent sandpaper. Also, if you like to take baths, you will definitely feel the difference when you are sitting on the bottom of the tub. But if your concern is bathtub safety, this product is fantastic. Highly recommend.
